Mannen in Zwart. Men in Black is a compelling documentary commissioned by L1 about what happens outside the public's view during concerts and festivals.
The camera takes a look behind the scenes where a group of boundlessly loyal professionals works every day to ensure the production of a performance is a success. And on time. Only to do the same thing the next day, in a different city, in a different country.
Who are these people? Why do they choose a life that often takes them away from home for months at a time? What do they sacrifice for it?
'Men in Black - in the Shadow of Music' follows five Limburgers who work in the vast circus of live music. With international artists in the Netherlands or with Dutch artists abroad. They talk about the euphoria that comes when everything works out, the unprecedented addiction that comes with working in this industry. But also about punishing schedules, living on airplanes between time zones. Or weeks of traveling across Europe in cramped band vans while life at home continues as usual.
